Eat More Raw and Unprocessed Food For Type II Diabetes

I find myself eating more lightly steamed vegetables, and drinking more raw vegetable/fruit smoothies from my Vita Mixer. Although I have NO affiliation with the Vita Mix folks, if you have never tried one and can possibly afford one of their machines, it is well worth the money.

I am posting a link that I found interesting concerning eating more raw unprocessed foods for your overall health, and less and less  simple sugar and white flour based carbohydrates. Because you are already a Type II diabetic, your pancreas is being over worked already trying to process unneeded and unwanted sugar.

Give your pancreas a break by eliminating most if not all of the simple carbohydrates in your diet, and developing a taste for the raw fruits and vegetables that the good Lord intended for you to eat. You have to be diligent and it takes a while, however I believe that you will begin to see small changes in your BG (blood glucose) readings, and then as you continue with the plan, better and better results. Eventually you will be able to cut back on your prescription drugs (with your doctor's permission and monitoring process). In order to do so, you will have to check your blood sugar readings perhaps 4 or 5 times a day for a while. You will also need to keep records of your results and what you ate that day, so you can begin to see patterns emerge. Then when you meet with your doctor, the two of you can begin to formulate a plan to get you the best control of your life and be in a position where you are not continually doing further damage to yourself.

You have to decide first that you WANT IT, and you want it bad enough to do something about it. You have to remember that Rome was not built in a day. You didn't develop Type II diabetes overnight, and you will not reverse it over night.

Take a sunflower seed and boil it in water.
Plant it in fertile soil next to a raw sunflower seed.
Treat both seeds the same and notice which one will germinate and grow.
You shouldn’t be surprised that the seed that was boiled didn’t grow because it was dead.  The raw seed continued to grow and change.

The more time, money and effort applied to food preparation, the less value and nutrition is retained by the food by the time you eat it.
Let’s look at the hierarchy of food preparation.
1. RAW — The food most alive, most whole, most enzymes for us is RAW.
2. JUICED – consumed when still fresh, is next. (Remember the pasteurization process kills the life force (enzymes)
3. DRIED or DEHYDRATED (only 2 to 5% of Enzyme Loss) – keep temperature below 112 degrees Fahrenheit, no chemicals like sulfur used in the drying/dehydration process.
4. FROZEN (5 to 30% Enzyme Loss)
5. STEAMED (15 to 60% Enzyme Loss) Vegetables are still crispy, not completely cooked
6.Saute or Blenching (15 to 50% Enzyme Loss)
7. Full COOKED (40 to 100% Enzyme Loss)
- when you cook a food and you see all the steam going up that is the life going out of your food.
7. MICROWAVED (60 – 100% Enzyme Loss)
- The microwave cooks not by heat but by bombarding the molecules in the food causing them to start vibrating. As they strike each other they create friction which creates heat and that is how they cook. This vibration process unfortunately causes the enzymes to split away from the molecules they are attached to. To explain this think of calcium that is found in the earth, it is inorganic or dead. The plant kingdom will take that calcium, and attach it to an enzyme. That is something the human body cannot do. Only the plant can do that. By attaching that plant enzyme to the calcium it makes that calcium alive or enzymatic ally active. When you microwave or add chemicals or preservatives, that enzyme is neutralized or rendered inactive. No longer usable by the body.

The reason I push the Vita Mixer is that your are NOT processing the foods first. You put the raw carrots, celery, spinach, broccoli, apples including peelings, oranges etc. etc. into the machine and turn them into liquid. You retain all the enzymes, fiber, vitamins, minerals etc. inherent in the fruit or vegetables themselves. THEY ALSO PROVIDE HUNDREDS OF PROVEN HEALTHY DELICIOUS RECIPES OF THEIR OWN, SO YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REINVENT THE WHEEL OR START FROM SCRATCH.

What Are We Eating?Today's modern diet is so desperately lacking in nutrient compared to those of our ancestors' days. How so?With the advancement of technology, most of our foods are manufactured, genetically re-engineered, and processed. Being busy people, we start to rely heavily on instant meals. We spend lesser time preparing fresh foods.Even the foods that we do prepare in our kitchen with all the sophisticated equipments, kill and destroy the nutrients and enzymes that our bodies so crave. Just what are we doing to our bodies?

As I did my own research, I was shocked with the many findings about the foods that I have been consuming in my first thirty years of life. By knowing the damages these foods are doing to my body, I started making conscious efforts to change my eating habits.
I may not be able to cover everything here but I want to share with you, some of the basic common foods we all take without thinking of the damaging impact they have on our health. Some of which we have even regarded as "healthy". Read the truth:

Pasteurized milk (UHT - ultra-heat temperature) is the heating of milk to temperatures of 160 degrees or higher. This changes the milk protein (casein) content to an inorganic form, which cannot be assimilated by the body.
When this protein cannot be broken down, it weakens the immune system, causing allergies and many other problems, like asthma, nasal congestion, skin rash, chest infections, higher blood cholesterol, increased risk of heart disease and stroke.
Crib deaths have even been attributed to cow's milk allergy. You are better off pouring the milk down the drain than feed it to your baby.
Do you realize that when you consume cow's milk, it causes excessive mucus to be formed in your lungs, sinuses and intestines. The mucus also hardens to form a coating on the inner wall of the intestines that leads to poor absorption of nutrients. It causes constipation and can lead to many ill problems.
Imagine then, what havoc cow's milk does to an infant. No wonder asthma and bronchitis are so rampant in our young children! Oh, the mucus that form in the little lungs!
Sally Fallon of the Weston Price Foundation in the States said it like this:
"Pasteurization destroys enzymes, diminishes vitamin content, denatures fragile milk proteins, destroys vitamin B12 and vitamin B6, kills beneficial bacteria, promotes pathogens and is associated with allergies, increased tooth decay, colic in infants, growth problems in children, osteoporosis, arthritis, heart disease and cancer."

God has designed mothers to feed babies with breast milk. But in these modern days, mothers are too busy that we have resorted to cow's milk, bringing up a generation of sickly children who have weak immune systems.
If we are going to cow's milk for calcium, we are mistaken. Cow's milk is not a good source of this mineral. The ideal calcium to magnesium ratio should be 2:1. Milk's ratio is 10:1. By relying on cow's milk for calcium, you will have magnesium deficiency and imbalance.
For alternative sources of calcium and magnesium in almost correct ratio, choose seeds, nuts, and crunchy vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, carrots and cauliflower.
For infants, if breast milk is not available, substitute with goat's milk instead, or rice milk, or almond milk.
Learn to make your own delicious and nutritious almond milk.

Soda/Carbonated Drinks
If you drink soda/carbonated drinks regularly, you would do yourself a great favor to eliminate them from your diet—the sooner the better.
A can of soda/carbonated drink contains up to 15 teaspoons of sugar, 150 empty calories, 30 to 55 mg of caffeine and is loaded with harmful artificial food colors, flavorings and preservatives. All these but with zero nutritional value.
Some soda drinks are "disguised" as "diet soda" where dangerous sweeteners like aspartame are added. Numerous health side effects are associated with aspartame ingestion, including brain damage, diabetes, emotional disorders, decreased vision, ringing in the ears, memory loss, heart palpitations, shortness of breath and many more. This short list should be enough to show you the danger of this ingredient in diet sodas.
Another way soda drinks are "disguised", is in so-called "energy drinks". Energy drinks may give you a boost of energy upon consumption, but it does not last. In fact, when the effect wears off you will feel your energy dwindle and you will start to crave another can. It becomes a vicious cycle and eventually gets you hooked.
The sugar content level in sodas are way too high and will lead to many health problems. Moreover, when you consume too much sugar, your appetite will be suppressed for the nutritious foods. This results in nutritional deficiency.
