STRESS Causes Inflammation Causes Diabetes

I know I sound like a broken record, however the more I read and study the more articles and research I am seeing on stress as a major cause of inflammation which contributes to diabetes. Whether that stress is psychological or  emotional or physical stress all three cause the body to pump out cortisol which in turn causes inflammation.

I have mentioned before that stress in the instance of an unexpected and sudden bear attack in the wilderness is a good thing as it gives you energy to FIGHT the bear or RUN away from the bear. That is the way God designed us. The problem comes in when the bear (stress) is never ending and there seems to be no escape. Many of us live day in and day out with that type of stress and it does take a toll on us.

Inflammation can also come from environmental toxicity from the air, water and  toxic metals such as mercury or lead. Another source might be TOO MUCH sugar, fat or protein, not enough water (dehydration) and carbonated soft drinks such as Pepsi or coke etc. whether diet or not.

An imbalance of friendly bacteria in your digestive tract can also cause stress and all of these things create inflammation.

Inflammation has been linked to cancer, diabetes, arthritis, acid reflux, premature aging (wrinkles),  high blood pressure, bronchitis, heart disease and a host of other ailments.

One thing you can do every day to help eliminate inflammation and balance your system is to drink green smoothies 2 or 3 times a day. I highly recommend using a Vita Mixer or something similar as opposed to a juicer, for the simple reason you retain all of the pulp and fiber and minerals etc. present in the vegetables. If you use a juicer, you are throwing away all the fiber and drinking only concentrated juice. Most people tend to focus on juicing fruits as opposed to vegetables and as a diabetic you end up getting too much sugar into your system.

Green smoothies (celery, baby spinach, romaine lettuce, spring salad mix, carrots, cucumbers, etc. will do wonders for your PH balance.)

Add in sparingly ..............an apple, and/or 1/2 a mango, a few red grapes, or a 1/2 of a pear, banana etc.

I would concentrate on the green veggies and put in enough fruit to sweeten the taste. You might also want to add a teaspoon of barley grass powder or one of the green powder drinks to the mix such as a"All Day Energy Greens". Add enough water to mix, perhaps a stevia packet or two and 4 or 5 ice cubes and let your Vita Mixer turn those veggies and fruit into a healthful filling power packed smoothies.
