Kashi Granola Bar EXCEPTION To OTHER Granola Bars

In one of my recent posts I mentioned that practically ALL granola bars contained hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils and trans fats  and were far from being a healthy snack. Last night I went shopping at the local Top's market and after strolling through the protein bar isle for a while trying to find a HEALTHY protein bar for those times when I NEED a pick-me-up snack, I came across the KASHI line of cereals and snacks.

A guy can only read so many ingredient labels before you start seeing double. This is especially true at my age since I have to keep taking my glasses off to read the label and then put them back on over and over again.

To make a long story short, if you are looking for a protein bar with 30 grams of protein in it etc., you won't find it here. As a side note, 90% of the high protein bars out there are also high in hydrogenated oils, trans fats etc.

The KASHI bar is different. I bought a BOX to bring home after reading the label carefully and doing a little google search for myself.  I am NOT a scientist and don't pretend to be and am not a lab technician. I am just a guy who is trying to avoid products that have been proven to be detrimental to my health in the name of SHELF LIFE AND PROFIT MOTIVE.

Health Product Review: Kashi TLC Chewy Granola Bars a Healthy Snack Choice

Honey Almond Flax Flavor

The Kashi TLC Chewy Granola Bars are a healthier alternative to other similar chewy granola bars on market.
Granola has made its way from being considered an "earthy crunch" snack, to a trail mix, to becoming a popular snack for school lunches. In recent years, the "granola bars" that have found their way onto supermarket shelves and intokidnulls hands have taken the concept of a healthy, nutritious snack and turned into a sugar-filled, chocolate-happy, marshmallow party.
Kashi has helped the granola bar re-gain its status as an actually healthy snack choice. Still portable, still easy-to-eat on the run and in the outdoors, the Kashi TLC Chewy Granola Bars is a granola bar at its best: healthy, tasty, natural, and satisfying.
What Makes Kashi TLC Chewy Granola Bars a Healthy Snack Choice
1. Incredibly Satisfying
Because of the rich and natural mix of nuts, protein, and seven whole grains, the Kashi TLC Chewy Granola Bars is a satisfying snack, dessert or post-work out pick-me-up.
2. Protein
What other granola bar can claim to have 7 grams of protein per serving? The Kashi TLC Chewy Granola Bars protein is derived from the whole almonds and the crispy soy granules, which will remind you of Rice Krispies.
3. Fiber
The Kashi TLC Chewy Granola Bars also boast four grams of fiber per serving. That is a very healthy amount for any food portion, especially a granola bar snack. Part of the fiber comes from the inclusion of Flax Seeds.
4. No Processed White Sugar
Instead of processed white sugar, or even brown sugar popular in many granola and health bars, the Kashi TLC bars are sweetened with wildflower honey and brown rice syrup.
5. Whole Grains
The Kashi TLC Chewy Granola Bars also contains seven differnet whol grains and sesame seeds. The base of the granola bar is not oats and brown sugar, like many other granola bars. Instead, the Kashi TLC Chewy Granola Bar contains Hard Red Winter Wheat, Oatsm Rye, Barley, Triticale, Long Graind Brown Rice, Buckwheat, and Sesame Seeds.
This healthy and dense combination of whole grains will leave you feeling full and satisfied, not reaching for another sack to satiate your snack craving.
6. Barely Sweet
The Kashi TLC bars are barely sweet. The sweetness that is barely there is just enough to satisfy those after-meal sweet cravings or mid-afternoon snacks. The Kashi TLC Chewy Granola Bar does not make those who are sugar-sensitive run for the salt or the water after it is consumed.
