Nutrients For Your Eyes / You Are Only Issued ONE Set For Life

As diabetics, we need to take steps to make sure we are getting nutrients aimed specifically at eye health. Here is a partial list of nutrients you NEED to make sure you are getting every day in your diet regimen.

A man too busy to take care of his health is like a mechanic too busy to take care of his tools. -
Spanish Proverb

Eat a variety of green, yellow, red and orange fruits and vegetables. 99% of us do NOT get enough FRESH raw fruits and vegetables. You should eat a large raw salad each and every day. Think in terms of romaine lettuce (better for you than Iceberg lettuce), red, green, yellow and orange peppers, zucchini and summer squash, carrots, celery, radishes, cauliflower, broccoli, garbanzo beans, kale, red seedless grapes, green leafy spinach, fresh tomatoes etc. / Use a salad dressing with extra virgin olive oil

Take a lutein, bilberry, supplement every day /Go to the local health food store and look for a astaxanthin supplement. Astaxanthin has been called the most powerful carotenoid antioxidant in the world as it is 65X more powerful than Vitamin C, 54X more than beta-carotene and 14X more than vitamin E. Astaxanthin can be purchased from Dr. Mercola's website under supplements or at your local health food store for around $20 for a 30 day supply / LOOK FOR 4mg doseage capsules. (IT is reported that people who have high levels of these nutrients have LOWER incidents of cataracts, and macular degeneration

The trace mineral ZINC is also needed for eye health

Pine bark extract also apparently plays a role - visit your local health food store. (SOLD as pycnogenol)

You might consider taking a KELP supplement to ensure you are getting enough trace mineral in the proper amounts and balance

I used to take kelp tablets for many years and then for some reason stopped taking them. I believe I will look into it again for the trace mineral content as found in nature.

Dan

Exodus 23:25-26
25 Worship the LORD your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you, 26 and none will miscarry or be barren in your land. I will give you a full life span.
Psalm 6:2
2 Be merciful to me, LORD, for I am faint; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are in agony.
