Benefits Of Eating Spinach

Let's keep it simple today and list the many benefits of eating spinach (especially baby spinach) or in my case, DRINKING my spinach. I keep experimenting with green smoothies and the VitaMix drinks. One of my favorites is adding the following to about 8 ounces of water: 10 red grapes, 3 to 4 stalks of celery with the leaves, one medium apple minus the seeds and core, one full sized carrot, 1/3 of a cucumber with the  skin and a big handful of baby spinach and 2 packets of stevia along with 5 ice cubes. Sometimes I add a tablespoon of vanilla yogurt or 1/2 mango etc. (Serves 2 or 3 people)

Let take a look at the baby spinach for a minute:

  • High phytonutrient content  anti inflammatory
  • Anti cancer
  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Contains: Vitamins C, E,  & Beta Carotene
  • Contains calcium, Magnesium, Zinc
  • Contains Manganese, selenium, Folate, & potassium
  • Vitamin B6, Iron, Vitamin A
  • Copper, niacin and Omega 3 fatty acids and fiber
  • Bone supportive & healthy heart nutrients and also aids digestion
  • Good source of anti-oxidants
One cup of handful of raw baby spinach ONLY contains 7 calories, 7 grams of carbohydrate (THE GOOD KIND), 4 grams of fiber and 5 grams of protein

OH, I ALMOST forgot, that raw spinach is great for helping to balance your body's PH factor. Go back and read posts on the PH factor and your interstitial fluid that surrounds your cells and tissues.

Note that a food's acid or alkaline-forming tendency in the body has nothing to do with the actual pH of the food itself. For example, lemons are very acidic, however the end-products they produce after digestion and assimilation are very alkaline so lemons are alkaline-forming in the body. Likewise, meat will test alkaline before digestion but it leaves very acidic residue in the body so, like nearly all animal products, meat is very acid-forming.

FOR ME, it keeps coming up Interstitial fluid and watching the PH factor, along with avoiding products containing hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils, all CARBONATED soda & cola products, and every day doing aerobic and weight resistance exercises. Lay off the deserts, including but not limited to: cakes, pies, puddings, ice cream, doughnuts, muffins, all white flour products (biscuits, scones, white bread, Italian bread, and all white flour should be avoided for any baking etc. Lay off the syrup on the pancakes, the butter scotch ice cream toppings, chocolate syrup, hot fudge anything, brownies, etc.

Isaiah 53:4-5
Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.

  1. By printing out these two lists, you can order at restaurants with certainty and most will be happy to accommodate you. If you must eat in fast food establishments, go for the salads, vegetables, and fruit with no sugar. With your acid alkaline food list you can go anywhere and still keep alkaline. enquire about acid alkaline
