I grew up when Wheaties was the "Breakfast of Champions" and Bruce Jenner's photo was on every box. The not so subtle message was that if you ate your Wheaties every morning, you too could be a champion and enjoy good health. Turns out that Bruce is now Caitlyn and perhaps Wheaties is not your best choice to start the day with.
This post is NOT meant to be about Bruce or Caitlyn Jenner. It is about the lies told about the benefits of whole grains and whole wheat bread, cereals etc.
What the advertising world at large does not tell you is that wheat and wheat products contain a very unusual type of carbohydrate which is not found in other foods and it is called AMYLOPECTIN-A.
What makes it dangerous is that it can elevate your blood sugar higher than if you used pure table sugar. I personally switched off all cereals except Quaker Oatmeal. I do NOT buy Quaker Prepackaged packets with additives, flavorings etc. and very little oatmeal. I buy either the steel cut variety in the big can or at least the quick 1 minute oats.
To the oatmeal, you can add organic cold milled ground flax seed (FOR Omega 3's), along with blueberries, and perhaps 4 or 5 green or red seedless grapes, and a packet of Stevia in the raw. I also switched from cows milk to unsweetened almond milk. I also add a heaping tablespoon of Oat Bran to the mix.
IF you decide to give this a try you will find yourself losing weight IF you need to and body fat by eliminating or dramatically reducing wheat and wheat based food in your diet. That includes breads, bagels muffins and any sort of baked goods
DID YOU KNOW baked wheat products contain carcinogenic chemicals called acrylamides that make up the browned portion of breads, cereals and other baked goods.? These carcinogens are linked to increased risk of cancer and accelerated again/
