Thought I would do a short post on two supplements you might want to incorporate in your regimen.
The first one is Tribulus Terrestris and is is a traditional Chinese herb. It is used primarily to enhance sexual function (in the areas of impotence and low libido), increase muscle mass and improve sperm motility in men. It also has been proven to treat other conditions such as urinary problems and skin conditions like vitiligo according the physician's desk reference guide.
It improves sexual function by increasing levels of hormones such as testosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone (OR DHEA). The increase in muscle mass comes about because of the increase in testosterone and a positive nitrogen balance. It also has been beneficial in reducing high blood pressure.
(CAUTION) For women who are either pregnant or breastfeeding if testosterone levels increase, the possibility of side effects may include anger and rage, lowering of the female voice, increased body or facial hair, increase in the possibility of hormone related cancer such as breast cancer.
The second one is MACA: Again this one has sex drive enhancing properties and has been used in treating menopausal problems. It is also known as (Lepedium Meyenlii) and has been used in controlling hot flashes and anxiety during menopause.
AS ALWAYS CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR FOR ANY INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER MEDICATIONS OR HERBAL FORMULAS FIRST.
There are a few negatives regarding Maca you should consider also. One is that the research done on Maca is limited and it is sometimes difficult to find. It has been proven to work, however you need to contact your doctor and perhaps a certified herbalist to discuss any possible interactions with other supplements and/or prescription drugs you may be on.
