Benefits of WHEY PROTEIN

I have been taking whey protein ever since by bypass surgery on July 24, 2013. If you take the time to read my many posts on Dr. Linus Pauling and Dr. Matthias Rath's work on the "Unified Theory of Heart Disease" you will know why. I will tell you anyway, but you should look up the many posts on my blog concerning cardiovascular health. Dr. Pauling's program calls for large daily doses of vitamin C (8000-10000 MG per day) along with the amino acids L-Lysine and L-Proline (BOTH found in good quantities in quality WHEY powder formulas. His heart health program also calls for Vitamin E, Co enzyme Q10, and other recommendations.

In the September 2013 issue of "Life Extension Magazine" there is a great article on the benefits of WHEY protein for type 2 diabetics. There is evidence that taking whey protein regularly can even prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes.

Whey protein decreases blood sugar without increasing insulin secretion. For non-diabetic individuals taking protein along with oral glucose would NORMALLY decrease the usual rise in blood sugar. Researchers then wondered whether whey protein could still lower blood glucose in humans diagnosed with insulin resistant pre-diabetes or whether, instead, their insulin resistance would blunt the hypoglycemic effect.

They divided the human subjects into three groups according to level of insulin resistance. For eleven mornings, they gave 0, 5 or 30 grams of protein (from whey concentrate) and canola oil to all participants along with oral doses of 50 grams of glucose.

Whey SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVELS IN ALL THREE CATEGORIES OF INSULIN RESISTANCE, yet the rate of insulin secretion was not affected. They concluded that despite very high levels of insulin resistance in some of the individuals, WHEY WAS ABLE TO DECREASE BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS.

Whey has other benefits including mimicking calorie restricting benefits without starving. It is also thought to add  years to your life span.

I believe it is something you should look at.

God Bless,

Dan

Whey Protein BENEFITS

I have been drinking a glass of whey protein powder with ice cold water, a banana and occasionally blueberries or other fruit whipped up in my Vita Mixer every day.

Why do I do this and what are the benefits of doing so? Take a LOOK:

I like many others used to think of the powdered whey protein shakes as a supplement for body builders and of not much value to the average person. I was WRONG.

HIGHLIGHT of Benefits:

  • Contains BCAAs - Branch-chain amino acids (leucine, isoleucine and other fractions tend to mimic the longevity benefits of calorie restriction known as (CR)
  • Branched chain amino acids have been found to significantly increase the life span of mice
  • It is a SUPERFOOD containing all 18 amino acids and naturally occurring bioactive components such as immunoglobulins and lactoferrin and cysteine concentration which is 4 times higher than other proteins and also highly absorbable
  • Inhibits diseases of aging by maximizing glutathione which is an endogenous antioxidant.
  • Reduces muscle wasting in the elderly'
  • Whey helps PREVENT Type II Diabetes
  • Whey protein, via bioactive peptides and amino acids generated during gastrointestinal digestion enhances the release of several hormones which lead to reduced food intake and increase satiety (YOU end up eating LESS)
  • Whey protein can inhibit the development of cancer cells
  • Possible cholesterol reduction
  • Whey can help cope with stress by raising brain serotonin

Do you need more reasons to start drinking whey protein shakes for better health?

Purchase the September 2013 issue of LIFE EXTENSION MAGAZINE and read the entire article concerning the benefits of whey protein including the studies it was based on.
